A novel general-purpose industrial accelerometer from Vibrasens is claimed to offer an unprecedented price to performance ratio.

In addition to standard accelerometer features like ground isolation, shear design and ICP, this accelerometer incorporates a number of novel concepts.

It's annular shear design offers better performance than other shear designs.

Indeed, the annular design presents no pre-set orientation, and so is less susceptible to harmful transverse vibrations that often cause saturation of integrated acceleration, velocity or displacement signals.

An alumina ceramic substrate provides improved thermal conductivity to greatly increase the reliability of the accelerometer when used in high-temperature environments.

It also offers improved signal to noise ratio and better stability over laminate-based technologies.

The device includes a second-order lowpass filter that attenuates (and almost suppresses) the mechanical resonance that can often cause saturation and signal distortion.

It also serves as an anti-aliasing filter for data acquisition applications.

Finally, the accelerometer is hermetically sealed to IP68 and helium leak tested to provide years of trouble-free operation in harsh environments.
