Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
Disciplines will include civil, rail, aerospace, construction, mechanical, IT, automotive, manufacturing, process engineering and defence.
Following the success of the NER/NCR event in May 2004, organiser Venture Marketing Group plans to increase the size and profile of the November show to further support the industry's requirements for skilled engineering and construction professionals of all levels.
A number of companies regularly exhibit at the show and use it as a forum to recruit staff, including the armed forces who attended NER and NCR on a regular basis.
Exhibiting companies include Acetate Products, Allianz Cornhill Engineering, Altran, Cameron Taylor Bedford, Centre for Rail Skills, Cogent Defence and Security Net- works, Cummins Business Services, Morgan Est, QinetiQ, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, Stryker, Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK and TRL Technology, Tube Lines, Wates Group.
Michael Coates, Manager Recruitment and Development, Cummins Engine Company said: "We have approximately 150 vacancies at any one time; 50 opportunities for experienced engineers and 100 for graduates and one year placements".
"We find the National Engineering Recruitment Exhibition a good source of high calibre candidates for all levels and a significant number of candidates we met at the last event went on to be invited to interview with us".
The interactive elements of previous shows will also be built on, such as the ever-popular engineering challenges hosted by exhibitor Input.
These challenges give visitors the chance to put various skills to the test and provide a platform for them to discuss their career plans with industry experts.
Venture Marketing Group has also announced plans to relocate the 2005 events, which will take place on 6th and 7th May at London Olympia.
Previously located at Wembley, London, the move is aiming to improve accessibility to the exhibition for both exhibitors and visitors and to take advantage of the extensive facilities Olympia offers.
