Output hub provides access to viscosity data

A Vectron International product story

SenGenuity's VisConnect allows users to acquire multiple channels of viscosity and temperature data and integrate it into any host control platform, without expensive instrumentation.

SenGenuity has released the VisConnect transmitter for its ViSmart solid-state viscosity sensors.

VisConnect is a stand-alone, analogue/digital output hub that provides access to ViSmart-delivered data via a standard 4-20mA output signal, allowing users to acquire multiple channels of continuous viscosity and temperature data and integrate that data into any host control platform, without the use of expensive instrumentation.

"SenGenuity is committed to providing customers with innovative solutions for measuring the viscosity of fluids in challenging, embedded environments", said Kerem Durdag, Director of Business Development, SenGenuity.

"The introduction of the VisConnect transmitter will greatly facilitate the process of configuring, installing and managing viscosity data from the ViSmart, providing our customers with an easier, more cost-effective way to identify and define solutions that serve their monitoring and control needs".

The VisConnect has two loop-powered, galvanically isolated channels of 4-20mA output, allowing customers to configure the minimum and maximum analogue outputs to correlate to 4 and 20mA, or 0.5 to 4.5V, respectively.

With an optional two-channel analogue voltage output, standard communications protocol for industrial applications, the VisConnect can connect to any legacy DAQ or host control system.

An RS232 Serial communication interface is present and an optional CAN interface will be made available in the future.

"The VisConnect provides a simple and self-contained path for acquiring ViSmart viscosity and temperature data that can be integrating to host control systems, as needed", said Shravan Jumani, Product Manager, SenGenuity.

"It is a highly portable solution that allows our customers to gather viscosity and temperature data and start characterising application opportunities, whether in the lab or in the field".

SenGenuity's ViSmart viscosity sensor is designed to provide instantaneous sample and/or continuous, real-time, in-process viscosity measurements for embedded real-time, in-line environments requiring high resolution and accuracy in low to mid-range viscosity fluids.

The ViSmart viscosity sensor uses robust and reliable semiconductor technology, has no moving parts and is sealed for complete immersion.

It is unaffected by vibration or flow conditions, does not need field calibration and is packaged in a very portable, lightweight size.

The ViSmart sensor measures a wide range of viscosity of fluid and is rated for temperatures up to 125C in a threaded bolt package for quick installation, with custom options and configurations available for specific industry applications and process requirements.

The ViSmart series can be connected to any computer or control platform via the standard protocols and the VisConnect transmitter to provide a continuous audit trail for process monitoring markets to control operating costs and maintain quality standards.

Customers can use SenGenuity's starter kit bench-top viscometer data station to acquire multiple channels of continuous viscosity and temperature data.
