Spray component manufacturer, TeeJet, reveals how Velleman Switch's ClickTouch technology provides the ideal solution to the problems faced by sprayer control operators in agricultural applications TeeJet is a market leader in the design and manufacture of spray components to agriculture, turf and ornamental, horticulture and greenhouse industries

Offering a comprehensive product range, TeeJet is the only full line supplier of spray components and accessories in the world.

The company's global network of facilities includes the TeeJet Technologies plant in Sint-Denij-Westrem, Belgium, where the TeeJet 860 sprayer control is manufactured.

Designed for use on tractors, the TeeJet 860 is the very latest in computer-controlled spraying technology, providing operators with an extensive range of information and setting functions in addition to GPS compatibility (allowing for variable rate application) and a printout facility.

Available as a complete package with valves, cables and sensors to form a total sprayer control system, or as an individual controller, the TeeJet 860 is operated via a membrane keyboard from Velleman Switch, featuring the company's unique ClickTouch technology.

Rik Vandenbulcke, Hardware Engineer (product manager) at TeeJet Technologies, says: "Our engineering staff pride themselves in manufacturing products that meet specific application needs, while exceeding customers' expectations in terms of reliability, efficiency and ease of use.

It is for these reasons that we specify Velleman Switch membrane keyboards.

Not only are they perfectly designed to perform the job at hand but they also reflect the high quality of TeeJet's products".

The suitability of Velleman switch's ClickTouch technology is even more apparent when one considers the difficult conditions under which the TeeJet 860 operates - often in extremely demanding agricultural applications.

Sealed to IP65, Velleman Switch's ClickTouch membrane offers protection from dust, water and abrasion, together with excellent resistance to chemicals such as insecticide, disinfectant and detergent, making it ideal for agricultural in-cab use.

Furthermore, the unique design of the ClickTouch membrane offers many additional advantages over conventional membrane or metal-domed based keyboards.

For example, the combination of a thermoformed polyester foil with 'elastic' spring zones enables extended key travel, and a contact bounce that is considerably better than the industry standard.

With long key travel followed by a precise 'click' action, the membrane provides unbeatable tactile feedback even when the operator is wearing light gloves.

A large easy-to-read display enables vital information such as application rate, volume sprayed, system pressure, sprayer speed and area covered, to be clearly visible both at night and in bright daylight.

In addition, high brightness, surface mounted LEDs are incorporated within each keyboard to ensure that key functions are also visible in bright daylight.

Having used Velleman Switch membrane keyboards for over 20 years, TeeJet Technologies is confident that the user-benefits offered by the latest ClickTouch technology have contributed greatly towards the success of the TeeJet 860.

This combined with the ease with which the keyboards are installed, has ensured that TeeJet Technologies will continue to use Velleman Switch products for a long time to come.
