A Victrex product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 10, 2009

Victrex has developed a second gear testing and analysis rig for polymer and metal gears at the Victrex Applied Technology Center (VATC) at the company headquarters in Lancashire, UK.

The company has been running the first gear-test rig since 2005.

Victrex has been strengthening R&D support on gear wheels for customers.

Victrex has been strengthening R&D support on gear wheels for customers.

The second rig, which has recently been commissioned, supports additional customer development and requirements for data on gear wheels.

The second Victrex gear-test rig can test gears over a wider range of torques, rotational speeds and dynamic variable loadings in a variety of lubricants over the range of typical service temperatures.

It can provide real-time analysis of gear performance and the flexible configuration permits data generation from helical, bevel and worm gears as well as more conventional spur gears.

Victrex Peek has a series of track records for commercialising gear wheels used in industries such as: the automotive, office automation device, industrial machinery and medical device industries.

It has the advantage of designing high gear revolution applications and miniaturisation.

Victrex Peek polymers are resistant to various chemicals, including greases and fluids and are inherently moisture-absorbent, resulting in higher dimensional integrity and improved stability.

They also feature excellent friction and wear resistance, resulting in a longer lifetime.

Victrex Peek polymers can withstand a temperature of up to 140C.
