Touchscreen HMI family for factory, process and building automation comprises six models with a choice of monochrome or colour displays in standard panel sizes of 14.5, 16.3 and 21.3cm.

Vipa has launched a family of touchscreen HMIs for factory, process and building automation applications.

The Touchpanel family comprises six models with a choice of monochrome or colour displays in standard panel sizes of 14.5, 16.3 and 21.3cm.

With Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, Movicon X CE Runtime visualisation software and a selection of Fieldbus interface options, USB and serial communications ports, the range is based on Intel Xscale technology developed for processing in wireless and networking systems such as PDAs and GPS systems.

An open architecture XML increases integration with external systems.

By allowing the choice of Movicon X or Zenon 6.20, the user can decide between the most suitable application requirements and leverage its own software development skills and resources.

Both systems have features for Scada based applications.

The Movicon X software has object or graphic element based programming with drag-and-drop integration and scalable vector graphics for simplified graphics development.

Pre-configured and freely scalable objects for alarm processing, recipe administration, online database and history database are complemented with graphical 2D and 3D diagrams and symbol libraries to simplify application development.

Also available is a data import facility for Step7, OPC and CSV files in addition to a multi-driver interface with up to four parallel drivers and drivers for all common manufacturers and Fieldbus systems.

Movicon X conforms to the FDA 21 CFR part 11 standard for security of electronic records and electronic signatures, widely specified for internet automated business processes.

Applications include Active X, OPC Client-Server, Ado CE-DB, SMTP email server, Tapi, Sapi, RAS, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) Script and web server capabilities.

Communications interfaces include RS232, RS485 and RS422 serial ports.

Two USB ports allow hot-plug connection to peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, printer and barcode-reader.

All colour models have Ethernet 10/100 ports for central data saving or project administration data exchange.

Optional Fieldbus interfaces include MPI, Canopen and Profibus-DP/S.

Depending on the model, either 6 or 16Mbit is available for user data storage with compact flash type II or SD/MMC storage mediums.

The range covers an entry level 14.2cm model with an STN LCD monochrome display and 320 x 240 resolution to a 21.3cm TFT colour display with 640 x 480 resolution and 64K colours.

They are designed for horizontal or vertical mounting in space restricted areas.

The front side of the panel is IP65 protected and the die-cast aluminium housing is suitable for mounting in harsh industrial environments.
