Noncontact measurement for aerospace applications

A Vision Engineering product story

At the Hamburg Aerospace Testing Expo, Vision Engineering will be demonstrating its complete range of metrology systems for noncontact measurement applications.

These systems are widely used throughout the aerospace component industry for inspection and gauging applications.

The new Hawk family of noncontact measuring systems will be demonstrated live at the Hamburg Expo.

On show will be a fully automated system, featuring video edge detection (VED) coupled with Vision Engineering's unique, patented optical display head.

This allows operators to operate the system in two ways; manually - for low production runs or where optically difficult subjects can be viewed and fully automatically - for higher volumes and increased throughput.

Kestrel is an entry-level two axis noncontact measuring system, ideal for use on the shop floor for rapid gauging.

Also on show will be the Lynx, an advanced stereo inspection microscope.

Lynx is available in a variety of configurations, all allowing for zoom magnification and an optional camera attachment for digital, video or SLR cameras.

All these systems will be fully functional so visitors are encouraged to bring along their samples and find out why Vision Engineering leads the way in industrial microscopy and non-contact measurement.

Aerospace component measurement and inspection can be a challenging application due to the nature of the subject.

Components tend to be complex and highly reflective, with curved and flat surfaces presenting reflections and glints.

The Vision Engineering systems all use a true, optical head which presents a clear, sharp image without glare.

This means that an operator will be able to see edges and features much more clearly, which will improve their efficiency and accuracy.
