Elga already provides water purification equipment and services for hospitals, universities, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, the electronics industry and the drinks industry in Scotland.
Elga's Business Manager for Scotland, Derek McIntyre, knows the importance of providing well-resourced, responsive and flexible after sales service and technical support.
"We already have a team of five service engineers who have been looking after our customers in Scotland for many years", he says.
"With our operations in Scotland now being managed locally from our office in East Kilbride, we will be able to provide an even better level of support to our Scottish customers".
"People in Scotland are surprised that tap water often requires further purification when it is used in a hospital or in a manufacturing process.
Elga has over 600 accounts for their water purification equipment in Scotland, which is a clear indication that there are many areas where tap water is not pure enough - areas such as: the Scottish drinks industry (water for spirit reduction - Elga is a major supplier to this industry); hospitals (water for washing surgical instruments, renal dialysis and use in laboratory clinical analysis); research (all major universities in Scotland use Elga purification plant); pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies (drug manufacture); the electronics industry (high purity water for cleaning at various stages of the semiconductor manufacturing process); and power generation (water for use with steam turbines and boilers).
Looking to the future, McIntyre sees the opening of Elga's Scottish operation as a significant step forward for users of purified water in Scotland.
"For nearly all of our customers, purified water is a vital utility that is integral to their operations".
"Having well-resourced, local support for the equipment that produces the purified water is therefore of vital importance".
"Elga is the only water purification company that can provide this level of support in Scotland".
