From Coventry to Bonneville
The JCB Dieselmax streamliner car was designed and built at Visioneering in Coventry.
Visionfix is a flexible, modular fixture system that is designed to assist with product development, prototyping, inspection and measurement.
It has been ordered by a major UK car company for use during the prototyping stage for a new vehicle, and will also be used to hold assemblies in a nominal position to enable accurate measurement using a CMM and to ensure speedy and repeatable set up, within close tolerances.
The Visionfix system's key advantages are that design and build times are reduced, and the time required to incorporate changes is also shortened, giving significant cost and time savings to the customer.
Visioneering Chief Executive, Brian Horner, said: "Visionfix is an alternative, cost-effective solution to traditional fabricated fixtures, which are also more difficult and more costly to modify in the event of changes to the product specification".
"It combines off the shelf components with our in-house virtual simulation capability, which enables us to achieve functionality prior to the manufacture of individual systems".
Visionfix is being used by a number of OEMs in the development of new models, and Visioneering is now working with first tier suppliers, using the OEMs data to help their suppliers to make cost and time savings.
The core of the system is the Holje modular fixture concept, comprising precision-engineered standardised components, locators and holding systems manufactured from aluminium with stainless-steel working parts to minimise weight while ensuring durability.
