Visioneering meets environmental mark

A Visioneering UK product story

Visioneering UK, the Coventry-based engineering partner for automotive, aerospace and other manufacturing industries, has secured the ISO14001 environmental standard.

Visioneering UK, the Coventry-based engineering partner for automotive, aerospace and other manufacturing industries, has secured the ISO14001 environmental standard.

Quality Systems Manager Nigel Freeman oversaw the process.

He said: "The driving force behind the move to secure the standard was demand from our automotive customers".

"We took up the challenge and decided to combine it with a drive to maintain existing quality standards, as well as to secure accreditation to recognised standards in other areas".

"It took just six months to gain ISO14001 through quality assessment body LRQA, because our operation is inherently 'clean'".

"At the same time we have maintained our focus on compliance with ISO9001, the wide-ranging quality management standard that has changed its emphasis towards system effectiveness rather than simple conformance to the standard".

"At the same time, we are working towards the German quality standard VDA 6.4, which is more demanding than ISO9001".

Freeman, a founder member of the company, took on the senior management position of Quality Systems Manager to steer the business's progress towards achieving these accreditations, as part of Visioneering's ongoing commitment to quality.

Chief Executive Brian Horner said: "The business was set up seven years ago with two operatives, and it now has 50".

"Quality is critical for our business and quality issues have traditionally been overseen by team leaders, who monitor every aspect of the process".

"Nigel's appointment to the new position of Quality Manager is a recognition of the fact that this much larger business needs a manager dedicated to quality issues, to focus across the entire business on all the issues that impact on quality".
