The EuroBlech 2004 show in Hanover saw the debut of the new EPAI variable speed hybrid gear pump system.

The special feature of this system is that the internal gear pump is integrated rotor-centrically in the motor in a common housing.

On account of that, the construction is very compact resulting in an up to 50% reduction of the volume of conventional systems.

Moreover, the new pump features a higher density as no sealing elements are required on rotating parts.

Another considerable advantage of this system is its low noise thanks to the embedded construction of the Voith internal gear pump, already also known on the market to be quiet, in the motor.

A noise reduction of about 10dB has already been measured at Voith's test bays compared with standard combinations.

The new hybrid motor pump combination is therefore especially suitable for applications that require high density, eg in the food-processing industry, and size, eg in shipbuilding, or in applications where strict conditions regarding noise levels need to be met.

The EPAI system can be designed with Voith medium-pressure internal gear pump according to the superlip principle type IPM as well as also with high-pressure internal gear pumps type IPV whereas pressures of up to 345bar can be obtained.

The integration of a second pump stage is also possible.
