Hypalon has recently been added to the range of Verderflex hose materials.

Hypalon (chlorosulfonated polyethylene monomer) has recently been added to the range of Verderflex hose materials For applications where standard EPDM hoses have experienced reduced lifetimes when transferring strong acids and oxidising agents, Hypalon is an attractive alternative, offering increased service life and reduced downtime

The new hose was recently tested in a Verderflex VF10 pump dosing a 16% sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl).

This pump was only in operation for one hour in every seven, but the solution remained within the hose between pumping cycles, exposing it to continuous chemical attack from this aggressive alkali solution.

The previously fitted EPDM hoses had to be replaced after approximately 250 hours exposure to the liquid.

By contrast the new Hypalon hose has delivered over 1000 hours of service between replacements, dramatically reducing both downtime and inconvenience.
