Pumps hit the heights

Verder has most certainly gone up the world recently with five Verderflex pumps being used in a lead and zinc mine at the summit of the Andes mountains.

The Minera Casapalca in the Yaugos Province of Peru is sited at over 4000m above sea level with an atmospheric pressure only 80% of that found at sea level.

The mine has to dose sodium chromate, sodium cyanide, copper sulphate and xanthate and needed a pumping solution that could do this effectively.

Verderflex pumps are particularly suited to this because of their seal-less design and their ability to pump solids.

Dosing consistency is, naturally, key to the process and with Verderflex this is assured.

Verderflex hoses are resistant to hazardous treatment compounds which made them ideal for the purposes at the mine.

A total of five Verderflex pumps (two VF25s, one VF15 and two VF10s) are in use at the mine to dose processing reagents.

Verderflex is widely used within the mining industry and has pumps in various sizes ranging from the VF10, as seen above to the VF125.

They provide flexible solutions to many pumping problems and, with its specially designed hose construction that postpones fatigue, it results in a longer service life.

It is particularly suitable for abrasive and corrosive applications due to the use of a specially designed Verderlube.
