Seal-less pumps avoid hose degradation

A Verderflex product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 14, 2007

Verder undertook the challenge to identify and design a solution for safe and efficient handling of most petroleum-based products.

The Verderflex range of seal-less pumps enables Verder to be a single source partner of pumping solutions.

In the peristaltic pump industry different techniques and materials have been tried and tested to tame hose degradation in petrochemical applications.

Aggressive chemicals attack most rubber hose materials, causing the hose to fail.

Verder undertook the challenge to identify and design a solution for safe and efficient handling of most petroleum-based products.

Moving away from traditional hose materials such as natural rubber (NR), Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer rubber (EPDM) and even Hypalon inner layers, Verder found the answer in tubing technology.

VerderFuel, a high-performance fuel and lubricant tubing is not only compatible with most hydrocarbons, oils and solvents, but it is also easy to change the tube and reduces the cost of ownership.

VerderFuel tubing is specifically designed to offer resistance against embrittlement, cracking and swelling of the tube caused by hydrocarbon-based fluids.

The risk of leakage is therefore significantly reduced.

Testing of the translucent yellow tubing has shown to have a lower rate of permeation than competitive tubing.

The Verderflex Smart tube pump, when used in conjunction with the specially formulated VerderFuel tubing, has proven to be accurate and cost-effective.

The Verderflex Smart Industrial F-series pump is an ideal low-pressure tube pump able to handle typical petrochemical applications including engine fuel lines, coolant transfer and heating fuels.

The F-series, complete with three rollers and a multi-channel option, provides accurate dosing and optimal flow rates up to 960 litres an hour.

Although it has a small footprint, its robust design and easy operation makes the F-series perfect for the petrochemical environment.

VerderFuel tubing is available in a range of different sizes varying from 2.4mm to 25.4mm inner diameter and a discharge pressure of 2bar.
