More control over curves from CAD/CAM software
Available now from VX Corp is the latest release, Version 6, of its VX CAD/CAM software.
Software gains complete milling solution
VX CAD/CAM Version 6.5 will be shown for the first time in the UK at Interplas 2002.
The software will be used in the development of new products in the Precision Prototyping division of the Wet Shaving Products Group.
Most razors that ultimately come to carry the Gillette brand begin life at GATCUK.
Wet Shaving carries out the research, design and manufacture of concepts.
It is the responsibility of Paul Warrick, Manager of Precision Prototyping, and his group to manufacture concept prototypes for testing before they are handed over to the company's Boston headquarters for product design and manufacturing development.
This requires a sophisticated array of state-of-the-art precision manufacturing equipment, and - in VX CAD/CAM - software to match.
"We've been using VX software for a number of years now, but these extra seats are going to make a real difference," says Mr Warrick.
"We originally went for VX because of its 3D CAM capabilities but it became clear that we had also bought in to an extremely powerful modeller.
Now every member of our team will have constant access to VX CAD/CAM and we will be encouraging individuals to take more creative responsibility." VX CAD/CAM provides a sophisticated range of tools for engineers and industrial designers.
It is the only solution in the mid range market that truly integrates CAD and CAM.
Its hybrid modelling kernel, VX Overdrive, gives designers and engineers the freedom to work the way they want, not constraining them to design within the limitations of pure solid or surface modelling operations.
"VX CAD/CAM had already proved its worth in aiding in the development of the concept that became the new Venus" women's razor," adds Paul.
"Now we are looking forward using it more widely in our development process, to complement concept design's other CAD/CAM software.".
