Software specialist enlists help of design experts
VX Corporation has announced the formation of an international council of industrial designers to provide VX Corp with ongoing direction for interface, process and functionality changes
VX Corporation, the developer of advanced, integrated CAD/CAM solutions for engineers and industrial designers, has announced the formation of an international council of industrial designers to advise the company on VX software enhancements to make CAD an easier, more accessible and widely used product design tool.
The VX Industrial Design Advisory Council will be selected from leading independent product design experts.
Using VX software, council members will provide VX Corp with ongoing direction over the next year for interface, process and functionality changes that best support the industrial design process.
"The very essence of VX software is to streamline the entire product development cycle all the way from conceptual design through mechanical design and manufacturing.
The Design Council will provide valuable input in helping to blend mechanical engineering processes with the way industrial designers work," says Bob Fischer, vice president of sales and marketing at VX.
"By 'taking the pulse' of our ID advisors, we can further optimise the design-through-manufacturing process by ensuring that the front-end aesthetic design phase maps to industrial designers' needs.
Industrial designers currently using VX tell us that its advanced surfacing capabilities and hybrid modeller can be of tremendous value to the industrial design community at-large." The ID Council mirrors the VX Mold Maker Advisory Council, which has helped VX integrate sophisticated mold making functionality previously not available in CAD/CAM products at this price.
John Yair, director of John Yair Designs, says the international ID advisory council is a great concept, which will be welcomed by Industrial designers throughout the UK who will benefit from the new CAD tools tailored to their specific needs.
"Industrial designers are trained differently than engineers and historically their professional practices have not been incorporated into CAD software.
VX recognises this and the development of an ID council clearly reflects the growing importance of industrial design in successful product development," he says.
