Postprocessor technology transforms toolpaths generated by CAM software into the specific machine codes that are required to operate numerically controlled machine tools.

Machine codes vary by machine tool.

The agreement signed with VX will provide VX CAD/CAM users with the support to run VX-generated toolpaths on virtually any machine tool.

"One of the strengths of VX software is its integrated design-through-manufacturing", said Bob Fischer, vice president of sales and marketing at VX.

"We're very pleased to extend our commitment to our manufacturing customers by bringing them the vast set of machine tool libraries supported by IMS, including IMS's special expertise in five-axis milling, which is a key feature of our next upcoming release, VX Version 6.

The IMSpost software to be sold by VX is exceptionally intuitive and reduces the complexity of machine tool control to simple menu selections.

A graphical Windows-based checklist interface guides the CAD/CAM user through the complete postprocessor configuration, machine setup and simulation.
