Johnstone Safety Products combines engineering design with industrial design by using VX CAD/CAM software.

Johnstone Safety Products of the UK has been a leading producer of industrial safety helmets for more than 30 years.

The company recently introduced the most feature-rich helmets it has ever produced, the Mark VI R/VII R.

The Mark VI R/VII R helmets have been designed with comfort, performance and style in mind and incorporate the most innovative features yet seen in safety helmets.

But in the technological aspect of safety helmets, safety matters must always come first.

So in combining engineering design with industrial design, Johnstone Safety Products (JSP) rose to the challenge by using VX CAD/CAM software.

The new VI R/VII R helmets embody years of JSP's industrial safety knowledge.

The helmets are modular units of sophisticated design, having best in class harness suspension and offering a wide range of features and accessories to provide a complete solution across many industry uses.

Asked about JSP's use of VX CAD/CAM software, Mark Williams, JSP Director of R and D, said: "The complete assembly of the Mark VI R/VII R helmet consists of both an ergonomic, organically shaped shell and harness coupled with custom designed mechanical components".

"VX is a hybrid modeller which gives all of the advantages of both solids and surface product definition".

"VX software has consistently met our demanding requirements and we have been able to swiftly produce all of our product definition data".

"JSP has found VX CAD/CAM to be easy to use and a very capable product, giving design freedom without compromise".

"For example, we required the helmet shell to have a precisely controlled variable wall thickness and needed external reinforcement features to blend tangentially into the base shape - a task easily accomplished with VX".
