A new cost-effective compact, industrial PC integrates all standard PC functions, including network and fieldbus interfaces, to seamlessly tie together the industrial/process automation and IT worlds.

The Wago-I/O-IPC 758 Series is a cost-effective compact, industrial PC that integrates all standard PC functions, including network and fieldbus interfaces, to seamlessly tie together the industrial/process automation and IT worlds Now, decentralised control, subnetworking with popular fieldbuses, as well as recording, analysing, and measuring data can be accomplished easily with large amounts of data and in short periods of time

"While Wago has offered control capabilities for many years with our popular line of programmable fieldbus controllers, the Wago-I/O-IPC will be able to offer customers the performance needed to replace any PLC system with PC-based control", explains Mark DeCramer, Advanced Electronics Product Manager at Wago.

"Customers will find the IPC is a complete solution for machine control, process control, redundant networking, high speed data collection, and for applications requiring fieldbus master capabilities".

The Wago-I/O-IPC provides a powerful system with flexible interfaces including two USB ports, one RS232 serial (Com1) 9-pin D-sub, DVI for graphic interfaces (HMI/OI), two digital inputs, two digital outputs, two Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbit/s interfaces, and a CompactFlash type 1 drive.

The unit can also be ordered with optional interfaces for DeviceNet, Profibus, or CANopen for subnetworking tasks.

Additionally, built-in LED diagnostics for power supply, watchdog, IDE, internal bus, and run/stop mode allow for easy status indication.

With a powerful 266MHz Pentium processor, the Wago-I/O-IPC boasts 32Mbyte of memory, 128Kbyte PLC SRAM battery backup, and real-time Linux or Microsoft Windows CE embedded operating system.

It is programmable according to the open IEC61131-3 standard via the Wago-I/O-PRO CAA programming tool - supporting all six programming languages.

The programming tool is compliant with the CoDeSys automation alliance allowing free upgrade downloads via the web as new technology features are added.

This PC based controller is 100% compatible with all 750 series I/O modules allowing the flexibility to interface with over 100 modular (two-, four- or eight-channel) digital, analogue and special function I/O modules.

All components of the Wago-I/O-System utilises the highly reliable cage clamp spring pressure connection technology for fast, easy, corrosion resistant, vibration proof, temperature cycling resistant, and maintenance-free wiring.
