High-pressure coolant delivery is becoming increasingly necessary, especially in deep hole drilling and machining centre applications where its ability to improve cooling and remove chips and swarf from the cutting zone more effectively leads to increased productivity through higher feeds and speeds.

Other benefits are said to be improved surface finish, increased tool life and energy saving as better lubrication reduces cutting forces and allows spindle motors to run more efficiently.

Also used in grinding, high-pressure coolant delivery prevents wheel loading, improving surface finish, reducing the need for costly wheel dressing and enabling faster feed rates.

Hydra-Cell high reliability coolant pumps are specifically designed for these applications.

Unlike most other positive displacement pumps, Hydra-Cell pumps are unaffected by re-circulating fines in dirty coolant that can destroy rotary and piston pumps.

Filtration systems can now be designed to meet the requirements of the machining process rather than the coolant pump.

The Hydra-Cell seal-less pump is a very low maintenance item and can even be run dry without damage.

Because Hydra-Cell pumps don't use the coolant to lubricate or cool the pump, virtually any type of coolant can be pumped efficiently including solvent based ones, nonlubricating, eco-friendly, water-mix fluids and even neat oils.

Being a Hydra-Cell positive displacement pump, the coolant flow can be changed by changing the speed of the pump shaft.

There is no need for wasteful fluid bypass when changing to a tool with reduced coolant flow requirements.
