Walk on sales success at MACH
The array of machines displayed by Ward CNC must have made an impression on visitors to MACH.
Evidence that the array of machines displayed by Ward CNC made an impression on visitors to MACH comes with the news that BEL Valves saw the Union T 130 table-type horizontal boring and milling machine for the first time at the show - and promptly ordered it.
According to Harry Clark, operations director at the Newcastle upon Tyne-based manufacturer of valves for the offshore oil and gas industry, BEL went to MACH purposely to buy such a machine, "to enhance existing capacity in light of a rising order book".
He continues: "When we spotted the Union machine, we immediately recognised that it offered more power than anything else we saw at MACH while also being comparable in every other respect.
We simply did the deal there and then".
With x, y and z axes of 2500 x 2500 x 1500mm, the T 130 features a 130mm spindle diameter and Siemens 840 control.
It is one of a number of Union live spindle table-, floor- and planer-type machines available from Ward CNC - and managing director, Simon Whitworth, reports that the order was the company's third Union sale in as many weeks.
He also says that the continual stream of visitors to the company's MACH stand included representatives from Newburgh Engineering, who confirmed their order for a Soraluce SP8000 travelling column, bed-type milling machine.
This is the fourth Soraluce for the Derbyshire, Peak district-based specialist medium/heavy duty machinist and fabricator.
Fitted with auto head and 40-station auto toolchanger, plus a 2m-diameter rotary table, the SP8000 will complement two recently-supplied FP8000 floor-type mills and a SP 10000 fixed bed Soraluce installed some time ago.
