Increased demands for resistive touchscreens from the UK's only manufacturer has lead to WASP doubling the size of their touchscreen manufacturing facility at Emsworth on the South coast.

Adding another 5000 square feet of floorspace, WASP has built a larger cleanroom to house four new laminar-flow machines and assist with stringent quality controls.

The new plant will also produce WASP1s latest products, a standard touchscreen range designed for OEMs.

the expansion will create a number of new jobs in the area.

WASP MD Roy Middleton said: "We1ve seen demand increase dramatically over the past 12 months.

This could have something to do with the fact that we1re the UK's only ISO 9001 manufacturer and a visit to Hampshire is invariably quicker and more convenient during the development stages than waiting for samples which are travelling halfway around the world.

We are also able to react to any design changes right here and now.

Plus, with lead times shortening, we needed the extra manufacturing facility to meet the demands.".
