Wedeco UV Systems has supplied two small packaged UV disinfection units for installation inside modular rotating biological contactors.

The modular RBCs, supplied by Kee Process, discharge near a local bathing beach, and due to environmentally sensitive nature of the area it was decided to apply UV disinfection to the final effluent.

The UV disinfection process treats up to 30,000 litres per day and is the final treatment stage before discharge.

This reduces the risk of infection by human pathogens to bathers and devotees of water sports.

The recently completed project "The Big Idea" is a visitor centre devoted to the process of inventing and discovery, it caters on average for over 250 visitors per day.

The arrival is heightened by the approach to the to "The Big Idea" - crossing the river Irvine via "The Bridge of Scottish Invention", a specially designed footbridge.

Built on a peninsular, the building is situated in an environmentally sensitive area.

It is sympathetically designed to mimic the sand dunes that surround it.
