Fluorescent lights help meet Machinery Directive

A Waldmann Lighting product story

AWDE and RL fluorescent tube lights allow manufacturers to meet the obligations of the Machinery Directive by providing appropriate lighting exactly where it is needed for safe setup and operation.

AWDE and RL fluorescent tube lights from Waldmann Lighting allow manufacturers to meet the obligations of the European Machinery Directive by providing appropriate lighting exactly where it is needed for safe and error-free setup and operation.

Waldmann's extensive specifications and options mean that manufacturers can select a standard product to meet almost any requirement.

The AWDE lights are powerful 18W units that are just 287mm long and 90mm wide.

They use high-frequency electronic ballasts that ensure energy-efficient operation with no possibility of hazardous strobing effects, and are available in both 230V AC and 24V DC versions - with or without glare-reducing louvres.

The lights are designed to withstand the hostile environment of the machining zone - they are protected against moisture and dust ingress to IP67 and housed in an extremely tough borosilicate glass shield to resist chip impacts and other knocks.

Where more power is required, Waldmann's 36W RL70e 136H can provide a compact and versatile answer.

Its wide-range, high-frequency electronic ballast operates across a range of voltages from 110 to 230V and is both UL and CE approved.

This means that manufacturers only need to stock one type of lamp for US and EU models of their machines.

The ballast is "piggybacked" behind the tube which reduces the overall length of the unit to just 584mm, while the fluorescent tube itself uses advanced T5 technology to provide more brightness from a smaller unit.

As with the AWDE range, the RL70e 136H is rated to IP67 and housed in a borosilicate glass tube - twist-off end caps allow fast lamp changing.

All Waldmann machine lights meet and exceed the requirements of the European Machinery Directive on machine lighting as set out in EN1837 and deliver at least 500 lux in the working area with no glare, shadowing or stroboscopic effect.
