New web site for WDS speeds transactions

A new web site for WDS offers on-line stock checking, purchasing and CAD downloads for 10,000 WDS engineering products.

WDS, the UK supplier and manufacturer of standard parts, modular workholding systems and production equipment, has launched a massive new website where every one of their engineering products can be viewed, specified and ordered.

The site also offers downloadable CAD drawings of all their component products that can be instantly integrated into machine drawings.

The site at www.wdsltd.co.uk is fully searchable under product name, category and product code.

Uniquely there is a photograph of every single product on the site, giving the user instant visual recognition for new items being purchased and the ability to confirm selections before ordering.

Designers and production engineers will find the site particularly useful, as all the workholding equipment and components, from knobs and levers to hand wheels and hinges are available as.dxf files with order codes attached, for easy integration into CAD drawings and plan diagrams.

Dimensional line drawings of production tools such as hand presses and vices can also be downloaded to allow for the exact checking of footprints and fitting.

Previous application examples of a wide range of WDS products are available on the site for reference, to help anyone using a product for the first time or in a new project.

Jon Walker, WDS Marketing Operations Manager explains how the site has improved the speed and convenience of supply: "With so many products, one of our most important jobs is to present the customer with the right information in the right format.

We began with a 300-page paper catalogue, which still remains popular and then a CD Rom, both contain photographs, technical details and ordering information.

The difference the website makes is in purchasing the product, as this becomes as fast and simple as looking it up".
