Mountings cut damage from vibration
The harmful effects of vibration and noise on machine life, product quality and the working environment can be reduced with the new range of antivibration mounting systems from WDS.
The harmful effects of vibration and noise on machine life, product quality and the working environment can be reduced with the new range of antivibration mounting systems from WDS.
The range includes washers, pads and mounts, which find almost universal application, from fitting motors in machine bodies to the installation of process and manufacturing equipment on uneven floors.
In response to increasingly stringent health and safety regulations applied to the manufacturing and processing workplace, WDS has introduced a new range of antivibration products that reduce both high and low resonant frequency vibrations.
The importance of the product range to UK industry is highlighted by research that shows low cost antivibration fittings can: increase the productivity of machines and reduce their maintenance requirements; improve the working conditions and job satisfaction of operators, leading to higher personal productivity; and improve the operating environment by reducing noise.
WDS' isolation washers are ideal for OEM designers who want to improve the service life and accuracy of their machines by reducing vibration caused by internal rotating components.
As well as reducing noise and movement from within a machine, elastomer isolation washers can reduce resonant frequency vibrations transmitted to or from fixing bolts used for securing machinery to floors and work surfaces.
For free-standing, general-purpose machines, WDS' re-useable mounting pads with side feet sections provide excellent friction grip and seating to prevent transfer of vibration.
Placed under the sides and corners of a machine, they effectively reduce both low and high resonant frequencies.
For height adjustment in blind-hole fitting equipment bases or legs, WDS supplies swivel levelling base pads, which allow an adjustment of 5 degrees for secure installation of equipment on uneven floors.
Stainless versions are available for fitting automated equipment in food, drink, pharmaceuticals and health care industries.
Isomounts are also available that act as height adjusting cushioning feet designed for installing injection moulding machines, processing equipment, generators, pump sets, machine tools and impact machinery.
Similar in design to Isomounts, WDS' Round Jackmounts feature round-ended adjustment screws and a steel body inset with two different reinforced nitrile pads.
The A series Jackmount offers a standard stiffness rubber insert, making the units ideal for machine tools, textile and printing machine applications.
The S series utilises a nitrile compound that is stiffer than the A series, allowing for use on more heavy duty machinery such as lathes, machining centres and transfer systems.
The WDS antivibration mounting components are available with bolt sizes that range from M10 to M24 and offer maximum loads of up to 1600kg per unit.
All five types of mounting devices form part of the WDS catalogue, which contains over 10,000 fixtures, fittings as well as other standard parts.
All the new products being introduced are now in stock at WDS, enabling orders to be dispatched same day for next day delivery as standard.
