Latches and catches suit all industries

A WDS product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 1, 2005

A new range of tough latches and catches provides OEMs across all industries with the ideal fasteners for doors, lids, cabinets, machinery and mobile equipment.

WDS reckons its new range of tough latches and catches provides OEMs across all industries with the ideal fastening solution for doors, lids, cabinets, machinery and mobile equipment.

Manufactured from stainless steel, powder coated zinc or tough plastic, the range includes magnetic, swing action as well as lockable designs.

Maintenance engineers and manufacturers producing short runs of machines now also benefit from the removal of small order surcharges and streamlined specifying thanks to access to 2D dxf and 3D CAD drawings online.

For instant hands-free closing of lids and doors, WDS has included two sizes of plastic covered magnetic catches that provide holding forces up to 20kg.

When the contents need to be kept safe, yet quick closure is still required, a lockable slam latch is available with a powder coated die cast zinc body.

The range of toggle latches provides one of the most effective and compact methods of securing lids, doors and storage equipment.

Available as classic swing designs in zinc plated mild steel for large cost-sensitive production runs or as all stainless steel for medical, food industry and other environments where washdowns occur.

The series includes long arm designs with adjustable tension and locking systems and standard sizes with wire hangers and safety catches to prevent accidental opening or security locks for use on equipment/cabinets in public areas.

All latches are supplied with a broad range of catch plates in the corresponding materials.

These have been designed to fit surfaces made from a broad range of materials and the range includes a wide variety of mounting patterns and holding strengths.

Swing handles and fittings are also included in the range in zinc plated mild steel or stainless, allowing WDS to provide a complete fixture supply service to manufacturers of all types of cases and storage equipment.

As with all catalogue products, WDS can provide a cost effective customisation as well as bespoke solutions.

Featured in the company's machine accessories catalogue and available on CD ROM Cadalogue, the new range of latches and catches has been carefully chosen to provide a low-cost and speedy solution for production line, workshop and workplace applications.

2D dxf drawings of all handles and hinges are now available to designers, helping reduce the time-to-market for products and equipment.

OEM manufacturers can benefit from significant bulk order discounts, and WDS has helped customers with maintenance and short run orders to reduce costs by scrapping small order charges.

WDS' new suite of catalogues provides technical details for over 10,000 standard parts and items of production equipment, from machined profiles to threaded fittings, clamps and fasteners.

The latest version of the printed catalogue is also available online with the majority of components available as live 3D CAD files in virtually any current CAD format.
