A new publication from datacomms expert Westermo provides a comprehensive review of all aspects of remote connection to industrial equipment.

Containing all kinds of reference material, including products for remote access applications, it forms an excellent reference tool for designers, maintainers and operators alike.

Called the "Remote access handbook", the publication opens with a look at the need for specialist industrial products before examining the basics of traditional remote access via analogue PSTN (public switched telephone network) and leased lines.

The handbook continues with the fundamentals of GSM, ISDN and GPRS as well as offering a section devoted to real-life applications showing how different industrial modems have been used successfully in widely differing applications.

Westermo's Industrial modem and ISDN adapter product ranges are covered in detail, with useful explanations of what each product does, making product selection much easier.

The "Remote access handbook" from Westermo is the second of a four part series of industrial datacommunications handbooks.

The other three sections are "Industrial Ethernet", "Local communications" and "Theoretical and general application information".

The Remote access handbook is free of charge.
