Mobile network used to extend connectivity

Westermo Data Communications has formed a partnership with wireless connectivity firm Wyless to deliver GPRS and GSM-based connectivity for remote applications.

The partnership offers robust, simple to manage industrial networking and temporary or remote communications anywhere in the UK where there is GSM or GPRS coverage.

Westermo can supply GDW-11 GPRS modems for evaluation complete with a Wyless SIM card installed and ready for use.

The Wyless fixed IP SIM card provides UK wide coverage as well as the possibility of cross network overseas roaming and allows its customers to benefit from diagnostic, management tools and consultation services.

The advantage of a fixed IP address is that it enables two way communication to remote devices while still taking advantage of the low cost that GSM and GPRS connectivity offers.

GSM and GPRS can effectively extend a network to remote sites, and devices can be contacted as and when required.
