Aimed at OEMs, system integrators and end users, the seminars will feature a series of technology and application presentations as well as training and hands on practical demonstrations.

Westermo Data Communications is running a series of free-of-charge seminars focusing on remote network access and the establishment of Ethernet networks over existing cabling.

The one-day events, which begin on the 14th May 2008 in Exeter, will be staged at various venues across the UK.

They are aimed at OEMs, system integrators and end users of industrial communications and will feature a series of technology and application presentations as well as training and hands on practical demonstrations.

Three presentations will be given by industry experts addressing the topics of improving business profitability through remote access, implementing remote access in the 21st century, and creating Ethernet networks over existing cabling.

The emphasis will be on the advantages and disadvantages of the different technologies, the introduction of Ethernet line extenders and an end user experience will demonstrate how the remote access can create cost savings.

To complement the presentations, a training session will help delegates understand the basics of setting up their network to enable remote access.

It will provide an understanding of how to select IP addresses, subnet masks and most importantly the gateway address.

Participants will also be given hands-on experience of configuring remote access routers, virtual private networks (VPNs) and establishing networks over legacy cables using Ethernet extenders.

In addition to the presentations and training, there will be live working demonstrations of remote PLC communications, redundant-ring Ethernet, radio telemetry and industrial modems.

Other venues include Cardiff, Warrington, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Coventry and Horsham.

A full list of venues and dates can be found on the Westermo website, together with booking details.

Places are limited to 25 per venue so pre-registration is required.
