With the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive implementation in the UK looming, but arranging a collection of WEEE has always been a long and tiring task.
Computer and purchasing managers have always had to deal with the disposal of their computers on behalf of their companies, spending countless hours telephoning recycling companies for quotes and information.
This new service allows a company to post a list of the electrical equipment they need collecting and the area to collect it from.
The WEEE Recycling Directory automatically matches the tender details to the recyclers listed in the directory and emails the recyclers requesting them to send a quote to the company looking for a WEEE collection.
The WEEE Recycling Directory is also announcing that Amplicon Liveline have successfully used the service to arrange collections of industrial computers on a periodic basis.
"I have to say that it was nice to find a website like this where I can let the companies come to me.
"The service saved me so much time, I received several competitive quotes and was able to arrange a collection easily", says Roger Wood, buyer.
Under the EU's WEEE Directive, from June 2006, all UK businesses will be required, by law, to re-use and recycle 100 per cent of their end-of-life electrical equipment.
Failure to comply with this legislation will result in a fine or even imprisonment.
