Jeremy Woolridge, Chairman and Managing Director at BE Wedge Holdings, has been elected as one of the new Deputy Presidents at the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF).

Jeremy Woolridge, Chairman and Managing Director at BE Wedge Holdings, has been elected as one of the new Deputy Presidents at the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF).

As President of the EEF, West Midlands, Woolridge's recent election to the Federation reflects his ongoing commitment to the interests of the UK engineering industry.

With almost 6000 members employing 900,000 staff between them, the EEF is the UK's largest sector employer's organisation and is charged with the task of representing the nation's engineering, manufacturing, engineering construction and technology-based industries.

The federation is an independent organisation that strives to influence the policies of the UK government and European institutions, in order to create favourable business conditions for its member companies.

Issues with which the federation is involved include employment law, health and safety practice, environmental concerns, education and training and economic matters.

Woolridge's election reflects his longstanding commitment to the UK engineering industry coupled with extensive knowledge gained during the course of a career marked by positions with the CBI and the Galvanizer's Association and by the awarding of a CBE in 1998 for his services to industry.

Commenting on his election, Woolridge explained, "I'm delighted to have been elected to this position at the EEF and look forward to serving the interests of its members and of the UK engineering industry as a whole, by continuing to address the many critical issues which affect this important sector".
