Distribution deal extends to lower
voltages
WEG is aiming boost to its UK low voltage and drives business through a distribution partnership with Cegelec.
WEG is aiming boost to its UK low voltage and drives business through a distribution partnership with Cegelec, a leading independent provider of electrical solutions and services Under the new agreement, Cegelec will provide 24-hour stock and support to local industry for WEG's complete range of LV motors and AC drives
In addition, Cegelec will also service industry-specific customers in its traditional markets where it already provides full maintenance and repair services for multiple-motor/drive installations.
The new distribution agreement follows another recent partnership arrangement between the two companies.
This saw Cegelec appointed to provide 24-hour local service and support and full installation and commissioning facilities for WEG's medium and high voltage machines.
The latest accord is a logical step from this, and a means of enabling Cegelec to increase its market share in the LV and AC drives sector as a result of exploiting the synergies between its businesses.
As part of the new agreement, Cegelec is providing off-the shelf availability of WEG LV motors in sizes from 0.55 to 90kW.
"The WEG stock we are holding is extremely comprehensive and should cover up to 90% of all immediate requirements locally", said Paul Sheridan, Cegelec's Commercial Manager for LV sales.
"For the remainder of requirements we can quickly call on WEG's GBP 2.5 million worth of stock, which is held nearby at Redditch".
"Cegelec is renowned for its technical engineering capabilities, and in addition to providing a 24 hour, 365 day service for motors and drives, we are able to work with WEG to provide customers with maintenance and service solutions that, for LV motors, encompass special motor shafts for 'special' encoders and designs which comply with the ATEX directive".
"Cegelec UK has seven main branches strategically located throughout the country, incorporating extensive workshop facilities including those dedicated to the LV sales activity".
"Our fully trained team are familiar with all requirements for the servicing and repair of industrial standard and hazardous area machines".
"This level of experience extends to all site based activities including fault diagnostics, installation and commissioning".
"In addition, we also have the capability to engineer conversions from imperial frame sizes to metric equivalents, and the expertise to go back to first principles in motor control systems to isolate faults that cause motor failures, and ensure that they do not happen again".
"We are delighted to extend our agreement with Cegelec into the LV and AC drives sectors", said Marek Lukaszczyk, National Sales and Marketing Manager for WEG UK.
"Cegelec is highly respected in the market, and the appointment of such a high profile distributor reflects our continuing commitment to provide the highest levels of local product availability, service and support to users of WEG medium and high voltage motors in the UK".
"This policy, backed up by our ongoing training policy, the introduction of our own transport fleet and over GBP 2.5 million of stock in Redditch, is certainly paying off, because, in 2004, WEG has grown its UK business by over 40%, achieving sales of GBP 13 million for the first time".
