WEG is opening a new technical training centre at its head office in Redditch
Representing an investment in excess of £20,000, the new high tech training centre is committed to providing free, standard, customised and application specific courses for customers, distribution partners and WEG personnel, initially on drives, soft starters and motor systems.
"The opening of the new centre is especially important at this time as WEG is becoming widely accepted as a supplier of full automation systems, rather than just LV, MV and HV motors", said David Ede, Managing Director of WEG UK.
"As a full solutions provider, we have to give support to our customers across a wide range of key issues: training being one of the most important".
"The new UK training centre helps us to meet this requirement and, at the same time, strengthen our automation and distribution teams to support our key objective of increased automation sales in the wider UK market".
The new UK centre continues WEG's culture of training, begun over 45 years ago at the time the company was founded.
The exemplar of this culture is Centroweg, WEG's internationally recognised in house training centre.
Founded in 1968, Centroweg is considered a model for technical training.
Currently over 15 percent of all WEG company workers have passed through the centre, having been trained in subjects such as mechanics, electronics, electro-technical, mechatronics, and chemistry.
This figure includes many employees now in senior management positions, WEG's current CEO being one, who was a member of the first Centroweg training group.
WEG's UK training centre is offering two standard courses, initially, of one and two days duration, covering the technology, selection, application, installation and trouble- shooting of inverter drives, soft starters and systems.
Further courses will be added by WEG UK as required, either customised or application based to meet the requirements of OE and end user customers in specific markets.
