WEG currently supplies its high efficiency motor range for all standard pumps in the Clyde Pumps range.

WEG's global supply partnership with Clyde Pumps evidences the benefits of longer term supplier partnerships in achieving success in highly competitive global markets Clyde Pumps is one of the world's premier pump manufacturers, providing pumps for demanding applications in key market sectors such as power generation, the oil industry, and water treatment

In these sectors WEG's global supply and support presence is underpinning the reliability of pumping operations with high efficiency electric motors that also help to reduce overall energy consumption and costs.

Key to the global success of Clyde Pumps is the company's ability to provide the optimum pump for virtually any application, anywhere in the world.

This often means supplying an engineered-to-order unit with all the associated ancillaries, and the project managed to strict quality requirements.

Subsuppliers, such as WEG, are critical to this process, as the Clyde Pump can sometimes be as little as 30% of the value of the overall order.

WEG currently supplies its high efficiency motor range for all standard pumps in the Clyde Pumps range, including single stage end-suction pumps and single and two-stage split case pumps.

The standard motor range, of 10-1000kW, is used predominantly for industrial and water pumping applications; however, WEG has also manufactured much larger, 4.7MW, 6.6kV units for a two-stage, split case pump supplied for the Petrobras PRA-1 oil project, offshore Brazil.

This project will allow the export of crude oil from three deepwater fields through an FSO and two mono-buoys, at a rate of 800,000 bpd.

WEG is used to the challenges of the oil and gas industry through experience with customers such as Petrobras.

The result of this experience is that WEG offers one of the largest ranges of ATEX compliant low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) motors for use in oil and gas applications, both on and offshore.

These products also comply fully with the most demanding requirements at global level.

For applications from the smallest induction machine through to the largest - up to 20MW - a complete range is available.

The experience gained by WEG in demanding oil and gas sectors is also deployed in support of Clyde Pumps in another of its key market sectors: water treatment.

In this sector, WEG's high efficiency standard and ATEX motors provide a cost effective way to cut water pumping costs and achieve fast payback.

This is important because the operation of pumping water accounts for approximately 90% of annual energy consumption in the water industry.

WEG's W21 Line of high efficiency motors provides one of the most cost effective and simple ways to reduce these costs.

The motors are designed to provide high levels of energy saving in both normal and ATEX environments, and either meet or exceed 1CEMEP/2WIMES requirements.

All of WEG's high efficiency motor types are registered with the 3DEFRA, enabling users to claim enhanced capital allowances (ECAs) on the motor purchase - a substantial contribution to reducing payback times.
