With its new WeiCoS range of pluggable terminals, Weidmuller is introducing the next major step in rail-mounted connection design, offering even more flexibility, connection integrity and low installation costs with this innovative wiring concept.
Using the WeiCoS terminal module, inter panel connection can be "plugged together" instead of time consuming and potentially risky traditional methods of reconnecting wiring looms.
Weidmuller's WeiCoS design comprises a modular terminal block (based on Weidmuller's popular Z Series terminals for TS 35 rails) combined with plug-in connector sockets for external connections.
The plug-in connectors can be easily inserted or removed from the terminal while retaining a secure, vibration- and shock-proof connection.
The WeiCoS design includes modules having either connected terminals on one side of the rail with one or two plug-in sockets on the other, or two plug-in sockets on either side of the rail; the terminals can also be crossconnected to the adjacent terminal with plug-in crossconnection strips (1-16 pole).
This aids rail planning and rapid device installation, as the rail can be easily configured so that either all connections are made in the same direction, or that any direction can be accommodated.
A further application for WeiCoS is for PLC I/O cards which can be easily connected as a plug in wiring loom or panel, independent of manufacturer, and the system is ideal for mechanical and systems engineering, process and transport applications.
The conductor connections use Weidmuller's well-proven tension clamp technology for rapid installation, and the WeiCoS unit is further enhanced by externally tensioned contact, strain relief and locking devices for the plug-in connections.
The range of WeiCoS terminals includes feed-through and protective-earth terminals.
Depending on the model, one or two solid core or flexible conductors between 0.5 and 4mm2 can be inserted in the terminals.
Current rating for the terminals is up to 24A and 500V, and power can be fed via standard Z Series terminals (such as the ZE16 for power conductors up to 25mm2) to the other terminals via plug-in crossconnects.
WeiCoS terminals and plug-in connectors are moulded in WEMID thermoplastic, which offers an enhanced operating temperature to 120C and improved fire resistance (UL94V0).
The terminals are designed for easy marking, and with test points for fast and easy testing and simulations.
