Simple ideas are often the best and, in a snip, Weidmuller's new Swifty has transformed the simple electrician's screwdriver.

Weidmuller's novel Swifty fits on the shaft of a standard 3.5mm diameter shaft screwdriver where the neat thumb-operated guillotine slickly cuts the end of the cable ready for connection, reducing the number of hand tools needed.

The Swifty has sharp, hardened steel blades, with a slicing cutting action that makes short work of solid copper cables up to 1.5mm and multistrand cables up to 2.5mm in diameter.

It fastens securely on to the screwdriver shaft with a retaining screw and also features a return spring so the blade is always ready for action.

The Swifty is ideal for use with Weidmuller's insulation displacement connections (IDC-I series), where the conductor does not have to be stripped before insertion into the terminal.

The Weidmuller Swifty is available as a cutting tool for attaching to any 3.5mm shaft screwdriver or packaged as the Swifty set with a Weidmuller SD uninsulated screwdriver.

It is not recommended with screwdrivers with fully insulated shafts, as the retaining screw may damage the insulation.
