Wilo Salmson has acquired the German pump manufacturer EMU Unterwasserpumpen, strengthening its product portfolio, while retaining the existing EMU brand name.

Wilo Salmson has acquired the German pump manufacturer EMU Unterwasserpumpen, strengthening its product portfolio, while retaining the existing EMU brand name.

Currently the Wilo range consists of domestic pumps for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, and light commercial water supply and waste water lifting.

The acquisition of EMU adds a new range of heavy-duty industrial and water and sewage treatment products, including pumps for sludge, tertiary waste and potable water.

The new company will enable the Wilo group both to increase penetration of its traditional markets and to enter new markets, especially in the heavy industry, process and water treatments sectors.

Stuart Herritty, Managing Director at Wilo, explains: "The acquisition of EMU plays an important role in our long term strategy to develop a strong global presence in a number of key markets sectors.

For our customers in the UK the opening of the Wilo EMU facilities in Burton on Trent will add a new dimension to our product range and level of technical facilities, enabling us to provide effective solutions to an even wider range of applications".

He adds that, "The new Wilo EMU team will work alongside our existing staff and will be operating to the same environmental principles and standards of customer service".
