Bundled with Windmill's fully-featured data logging, charting and control software - the package makes it easy to automate measurements.
Furthermore, users can send data to other Windows programs like spreadsheets and databases.
The software is completed with free technical support for life, and the ability for users to try before they buy.
Running under Windows 95, 98, NT, ME or 2000, the driver - called ComIML - can handle instruments communicating over RS-232, RS-485, RS-422 or Modbus.
These may send ASCII or binary data.
This flexibility ensures the majority of serial instruments are supported.
Users have the freedom to interface devices from many different manufacturers, such as A and D, Ashtec, Bruel and Kjaer, Ecom, Funaro, Mettler Toledo, Motorola, Molyteck, Omron, Parallax, Sartorius, Siemens and Telegan.
To enable people to confirm they can talk to their instrument before buying the Windmill package, the set-up part of the system is freely available.
Users can download this program from Windmill's web site, enter their instrument settings and ensure they can receive data.
The program also provides many trouble-shooting facilities - helping pinpoint any problems with the COM port connection.
The Windmill package costs ?145.
For this people receive a complete suite of data acquisition, logging, charting and control applications - no programming is required.
If needs grow, Windmill offer a range of optional extras.
These include drivers to interface GPIB (general purpose interface bus), USB (universal serial bus) and Ethernet devices; Visual Basic data acquisition tools; alarm alerts by telephone and a process mimic generator.
