More than 25,000 people are now receiving Monitor, the free newsletter for PC-based data acquisition and control.
More than 25,000 people are now receiving Monitor, the free newsletter for PC-based data acquisition and control.
Monitor is sent by e-mail every month.
It is written in an easy-to-understand style and includes: articles on making measurements; examples of industrial, scientific and environmental applications of computerised data acquisition; news of exhibitions and conferences relating to instrumentation; sources of more information on topics such as temperature monitoring, USB communications and control systems; and tips on using Excel to analyse data.
Published by Windmill Software, Monitor was launched in August 1998 and mailed it to just 42 people.
Very soon after the, the publisher started offering its Windmill suite of data acquisition and control software free to everyone signing up.
At that time the software cost nonsubscribers GBP 345 to purchase, and so - not surprisingly - a great many people took advantage and started using Windmill.
In fact, over 17,000 copies of Windmill have been given away to date.
With overflowing e-mail in-boxes Windmill is very conscious of the need to keep the newsletter relevant or it will simply be deleted, or worse still marked as spam.
The company conducts yearly surveys to check how satisfied subscribers are, and what topics they would like covered in Monitor in the future.
Engineers, scientists and anyone else interested in reading Monitor may subscribe for free on the Windmill website.
