Federal Mogul goes for Wixroyd fixtures

A Wixroyd International product story

In today's demanding and competitive marketplace everyone needs everything, yesterday! In order to maintain their competitive stance, companies have to find ways of increasing productivity output and speeding up their production process.

A good example of a company providing equipment to meet this demand is Wixroyd International, based in Surrey.

They report an increased demand from their customers for quick solutions to their fixturing, needs without jeopardising the quality of the finished product in any way.

Anthony Iafrate, Wixroyd's Sales Director, states that, "Many companies are under increased pressure from their own customers for parts to be made with shorter and shorter lead times.

As a result, our Productivity Systems, which enables simple or complex fixtures to be constructed in a matter of minutes, from a set of standard clamping and positioning elements are proving extremely popular with customers.

A prime example is Federal Mogul who has recently invested in a variety of Wixroyd's Productivity Systems.

Federal Mogul manufactures fuel filters for diesel vehicles, and over the past year have called upon Wixroyd to fixture around eight different components.

Each fixture is provided with its own base plate and can be fully assembled by Wixroyd engineers.

Fixtures typically have to be installed in 7-10 days and the key to their success is that they must be extremely rigid and accurate, Wixroyd's Productivity Systems ensure.

This approach is now taken to virtually all new parts indicating the success Federal Mogul feels has been achieved.

Anthony Iafrate also reports that at the same time there is also an increased demand from customers to reduce production costs.

This increase could partly be due to the high pound and the need to reduce costs in export and automotive supply markets.

Whatever the reasons, Wixroyd say they have a wide range of systems available to enable customers with machining centres to achieve this goal!.
