Wilde and Partners is to host a seminar on "Finite element analysis and simulation in biomechanics and biological structures", on behalf of Meditech next January at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester.

Wilde and Partners is to host a seminar on "Finite element analysis and simulation in biomechanics and biological structures", on behalf of Meditech (the Medical Technology and Engineering Research Network (www.meditech.uwcm.ac.uk)) on 30th January 2003 at Manchester United FC, Old Trafford, Manchester.

The main aim of Meditech is to enhance links between industry and academia within the fields of medical devices and materials, with the intention of implementing advanced technologies in the fields of bioengineering, biomedical materials, biomaterials, biocomputational simulation and design and development of medical devices.

Wilde and Partners is a member of the Meditech steering committee.

This seminar will address these aims by presenting an overview of the significant growth in the use of simulation in the biomedical industry.

The seminar will discuss the current best practices and the latest research in this area.

Speakers are drawn from industry, research centres, software companies and the university sector.

Presentations will cover such topics as the use of the simulation of surgery using FEA and the use of finite element analysis in the design of medical devices.

A number of presentations will show the benefits of recent and current developments in finite element technology, in areas such as multi-physics - an important area for biomedical applications.

Simulation is now a vital tool in the development of biomedical equipment and the presentations will show how the technology is being used to optimise device performance.

Time will be allocated during the day for discussions among delegates.

The event is aimed at engineers, designers, managers and researchers who wish to learn more about the latest advances in finite element simulations in this important field.

The presentations will be relevant to current and potential users of finite element software and associated consulting services.

The cost of the meeting will be GBP 65 and will include three- coffee breaks, lunch and symposium pack.

Numbers will be restricted and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
