Wittmann UK has signed an exclusive agency deal for the UK plastics sector with six axis robot manufacturer Kuka.

Plastics automation and materials handling equipment supplier Wittmann UK has signed an exclusive UK agency deal for the UK plastics sector with six axis robot manufacturer Kuka.

The move was celebrated on the Wittmann UK stand on the first day of the Plastics Design and Moulding Exhibition in Telford.

Barry Hill, Wittmann UK, said: "We are delighted to add the KUKA range of six axis robots to our full automation service, which already includes robots from Kawasaki and Toshiba as well as the full Wittmann range".

Hill added: "This means that the Wittmann UK customer now has more choice for his automation needs".

"Some moulders will, in any case, always gravitate towards a six axis option - and the new range of Kuka robots offer very great differentiation and precision in handling higher kg payloads for larger mouldings".

"Our aim is always customer focused and this addition to our robotics portfolio will create even more cost saving opportunities for automated production".

The range of new third-generation Kuka robots have been recently further developed for the plastics markets; aimed particularly at larger moulding manufacturers, making crates, chairs, PC housings, white goods components and other items in the above-10kg shot field.

The latest Kuka designs offer: reduced weight of the robot arm; reduced floor space requirement; less overhead space; and a larger envelope depth to the front and below for demoulding and setting down of parts.

Wittmann UK will be the exclusive integrator for the Kuka range in the UK.
