In addition to working directly with Winder, Asquith's role will encompass responsibility for the engineering interests of MP industries, Winder's parent group.
Asquith is keen to see Winder continue to grow and build on the success of recent years which has seen the company win contracts for the supply of power equipment worldwide.
Commenting on his new appointment Asquith said: "I am delighted to join the team at Winder".
"My aim is to build on the strong foundations and capitalise on the reputation of Winder in the power generation industry".
"Winder's key strength is its ability to offer a full turnkey solution to customers covering all aspects of design, commissioning, supply and full backup service".
Prior to joining Winder, Asquith was instrumental in building a private UK engineering group manufacturing pumps, and was previously employed by both Hawker Siddley and BTR.
He has long experience of the supply of customised engineering solutions to British industry, which he intends to put to good use in his new position.
Winder Electrical, which has operated from its Leeds base for over 100 years, is a leading manufacturer of equipment to the power industry and works with many leading companies both in the UK and abroad.
It has recently secured contracts in Nigeria and Iraq as well as throughout the UK.
And it is this success that Asquith is confident he can help the company build on, in his new role.
Summarising, he said: "I am confident that with my experience and knowledge of the industry I can help the company continue to grow and build on the strong position it has within the industry".
