GKN throws weight behind student awards

GKN is sponsoring the overall Science, Engineering and Technology Student of the Year Award at this year's SET Awards.

GKN is sponsoring the overall Science, Engineering and Technology Student of the Year Award at this year's SET Awards.

This award is given to the student with the highest overall score from all of the other categories and will be presented at the end of the Gala Dinner and Presentation Ceremony at the Royal Courts of Justice, London on 21st September 2006.

Martyn Vaughan, Chief Executive of GKN's OffHighway Division and Chairman of the Group's Technology Committee said: "GKN has been an enthusiastic supporter of the SET Awards for several years during which time we sponsored the Mechanical Engineering category".

"We never fail to be impressed and often moved by the quality of the people and their projects across the whole spectrum of disciplines encompassed by the SET Awards".

"When the opportunity arose to become the sponsor of the overall Student of the Year Award we had no hesitation in stepping forward".

"These awards play a huge role in underlining this country's global competence in science, engineering and technology".
