Wohlers was also selected to receive an honorary doctoral degree of mechanical engineering from the university.
Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prise winner, received this honorary degree in 2002.
"This is an incredible honour that was totally unexpected," Wohlers remarked.
Wohlers focuses on technical, market, and business consulting as his core activity.
In the past, he has provided organisations of all types and sises advice on wide-ranging issues associated with prototyping and rapid product development.
He has made several trips to South Africa over the past few years.
