Wolf Safety has launched two new improved handlamps, compliant with the ATEX Directive to supersede existing models.

With the implementation of this directive, obligatory by July 2003, virtually all Wolf Safety's portable safety lighting products will have been upgraded to comply with this important EU legislation, regarding the selection and use of products in potentially explosive atmospheres, as well as additional workplace regulations to protect personnel in industrial hazardous areas.

The new rechargeable H-251A ATEX compliant Wolflite and the dry battery cell-powered H-4DCA ATEX replacement model will continue to offer the same extreme robust and reliable characteristics found in all previous Wolflite handlamps and furthermore offer enhanced performance.

Handlamp bodies and lens rings are moulded in a high impact antistatic thermoplastic, able to withstand the drop and impact expected from heavy industrial use and prevent the build up of potentially dangerous static charges.

Both new models, supplied with more durable detachable shoulder straps, are Lloyd's Register Type Approved for marine application and have a high ingress protection rating of IP66.

The H-251A Wolflite also incorporates a new high output, high efficiency, long life halogen bulb, providing an extremely well defined beam of intense white light for up to 7h.

Recharging of this handlamp is still undertaken in either the standard or vehicle mounted Wolflite lamp chargers.

Use of alkaline manganese cells for the H-4DCA handlamp is permitted and recommended, because they can deliver a brighter white light up to 20h duration, from one set of battery cells - nearly four times longer duration than zinc D cells.
