Flowserve's Thomas Ferguson was promoted to the Chairmanship of the Hydraulic Institute at its 90th Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
Thomas Ferguson has been chosen as Chairman of the Board for the Hydraulic Institute (HI) for 2007-2008.
Ferguson serves as President of Flowserve Pump Division, and was recently promoted to this Chairmanship at the Hydraulic Institute's 90th Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
"I am very pleased to Chair an organisation that plays such an integral role in the global pump industry", says Ferguson.
"This past year's term as President was a rewarding experience, and I now look forward to further guiding the Hydraulic Institute as a leading organisation for our industry and our professional standards".
The 90-year old Hydraulic Institute is the largest association of pump producers in North America, and is a global authority on pumps and pumping systems.
Ferguson served as organisational President and a member of the board during 2006-2007, and has been an active member of the organisation since 1988.
A Senior Vice President of Flowserve Corporation, Ferguson is an industry veteran with more than 24 years of experience in the flow control industry.
This includes nearly 20 years with Flowserve and one of its predecessor companies, BW/IP International.
Prior to serving as President of Flowserve Pumps, a position he has held since 2003, Ferguson was President of Flowserve Flow Solutions.
Before that, he spent 14 years in various sales, marketing, technical and general management positions with the Flow Solutions and Pump Divisions.
Beginning his career with BW/IP in 1987, Ferguson held positions in sales and marketing in the seals and pump divisions.
He has also held key positions in the oil-field services sector, including nine years in sales, marketing and technical roles with companies such as Nowsco Well Service, .
(now part of BJ Services), BJ Hughes (now part of Baker Hughes), and Zwick Energy Research.
Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial distribution and technology from Texas AandM University.
He also attended the University of Southern California Executive Management Programme.
