The DigiScope is a versatile portable digital microscope with an optical magnification of up to 200x and an on-screen full-colour computer display facility.

Available from Warwick Test Supplies, prices for the DigiScope range from GBP 350 to 900, depending on the configuration.

Allowing multiviewer examination without eyepiece fatigue, with software for still, time lapse and video capture, polarising imaging, integral illumination and interchangeable lenses, the DigiScope is ideal for use in the electronics and associated industries.

The DigiScope can be either handheld for direct touch contact applications or mounted on the fully adjustable, micro-vernier calibrated stand.

Used as a handheld camera, the small head enables users to access awkward areas and attain angles of view not possible with a conventional microscope.

For high image magnification and critical focus, use of the stand also allows the camera to be moved to the specimen.

In addition to still, time lapse and video capture, the software provides a unique file reference, date, time and notebook facility to enable details to be recorded against each image.

The images can easily be forwarded as attachments via an email application.

Extremely rugged, the DigiScope is designed for both PC and Mac platforms, and, being powered through the computer's USB port, it is ideal for inspections in the field when used with a laptop.

The full system includes a 30x polarising lens, easy-to-change 1x, 50x and 200x bayonet-mounted lenses, stand and drivers for the microscope and video capture software.

A 50x illuminated lens and a C mount adapter are also available.

For a more economical solution, the system can be supplied with only the 30x lens and without the stand.

Imager specifications include a 330Kpixel, 0.25in colour CCD and video resolution of 640 x480 at 12.5frame/s or 320 x 240 at 30frame/s.

Minimum system requirements are USB interface, iMac, iBook, PowerMac, G3 or G4 with system 8.6.1 or higher or a PC with Pentium 233MHz or equivalent running any version of Windows.

Minimum 32Mbyte RAM (64Mbyte recommended).
