According to WTI Fasteners, automotive manufacturers can save thousands of pounds by using helical wire thread inserts on the production lines.

According to WTI Fasteners, automotive manufacturers can save thousands of pounds by using helical wire thread inserts on the production lines.

Many manufacturers incorporate wire thread inserts into their designs to exploit weak/light weight materials to save weight and gain strength, additionally they are used to repair worn or damaged/stripped threads.

When used this results in the thread being the original size but far superior than the original design as they are heat and corrosion resistant, very hard wearing and ultra strong as bolts can be broken without damaging the female threads.

New easy to use 0.25in hex inserting tools are available.

Bolt breaking demonstrations, power tooling, inserts, taps and thread repair kits will all be demonstrated on the stand at the March Midlands manufacturing exhibition and at the Fastener Fair in May 2003.
